Myofascial Practitioner & Somatic Yoga Teacher

Promoting physical wellbeing through a somatic based movement practice & yoga

Somatic Yoga

  • A practice of inquiry, intuition, feeling and honoring our bodies own intelligence

  • Slowing things down to notice the subtlety.

  • Attune to your inner landscape.

  • Interconnecting primal movement into more traditional yoga postures following the fluidity of the body.

  • Offering a chance to delve a little deeper into a felt sense of awareness and discover how your body wants to move.

  • Becoming aware of the journey rather than the destination.

What Is Fascia??

Quite simply, it’s what we are made of!

  • The largest sensory organ.

  • A multi directional, multi layered fabric web, connnecting & intertwining all that we are, from liquid blood to the solid bone and everything inbetween.

  • Made of collagen fibres and hyduronic acid.

  • Stabilizing the joints, whilst allowing everything within to slide and glide, stretching and returning with ease.

Repetitive movements, chronic stress, injury and inactivity cause the fascia to become rigid and stuck, forming adhesions in the fascial matrix that over time can limit mobility causing pain and dysfunction.

Simple definitions

*Somatic - primarily refers to that which is of, relating to, or affecting the body. It originates from the Greek word "sôma,"meaning "body”. Beyond biological definitions, "somatic" is relevant in therapeutic and wellness practices that focus on the mind-body connection, often involving techniques to improve well-being through bodily awareness.

*Fascia - In anatomy and medicine fascia refers to the matrix of connective tissue found below the skin that attach, stabilize, impart strength, and enclose organs, muscles, and bones.
